Community & Events
Hazelwood Green comes to life through the people who gather here. From concerts and markets to pop-ups, classes, and seasonal events, each moment adds to the rhythm of the site
Hazelwood Neighborhood
The City of Pittsburgh is made up of 90 neighborhoods, including Hazelwood and Glen Hazel, which together form Greater Hazelwood. Within that broader community, Hazelwood Green’s 178 acres make up a meaningful share of the neighborhood and an important part of its future. Once a former steel mill site and long a major economic driver, this riverfront place is now being reimagined in a way that honors its history while opening new paths forward.
Today, Hazelwood Green reflects a more inclusive and sustainable vision for growth—one that supports economic opportunity, environmental renewal, and stronger community connection. As one of Pittsburgh’s more diversely balanced communities, Greater Hazelwood mirrors the city’s broader mix of demographics, experiences, and momentum. Over the past decade, revitalization efforts across the neighborhood have focused on restoring historic buildings, strengthening Second Avenue, expanding homeownership, attracting local services and gathering places, and supporting the businesses that already call the community home.
Hazelwood Local
Hazelwood Local brings community life to the forefront, supporting local businesses, entrepreneurs, and makers while activating spaces across the site.
Through year-round events, markets, and programming, it creates opportunities to gather, discover something new, and stay connected to the neighborhood.
